Week 1: Phoenix A made an impressive start to the new season on their return to the top flight with a 9-1 victory over Whiteshill. There were solid performances from new boy Simon Ward and old boy Rich Cole who were both unbeaten on the night in singles and doubles. Laurence Manley won two more but was narrowly beaten by Steve Greening. Phoenix B were not so fortunate as they came up against a strong Frampton team consisting of Bob Murray, Steve Porter and Bill Dawe who were all unbeaten. Nick Watts took Steve to five but that was the closest the home side got to a point. Thornbury also got off to a good start with maximums from Len Vowles and Julian Elsbury and a brace from Ian Maggs. Paul Bird scored a consolation for Ciren although he was a tad unlucky as all his matches went to five. Len and Julian wrapped up a 9-1 in the doubles. Yate entertained Woodchester B and although there was a win each for Andy Cox and Will Berkley, maximums from Billy Shilton and Clive Ellison and one from Tony Clarkson gave the visitors a 7-3 victory as Andy and Will took the doubles. A rusty Woodchester A were cut down at home by a sharp Forest Green A. Lee Thomas recorded the only singles point for the home team, for the visitors there were maximums for Dave Harvey and Olly Tyndall and a brace for Dave Adamson before Martin Gunn and Mark Farrow combined to win the doubles. Final score 2-8.

 

Week 2: Woodchester B entertained Thornbury A and in a close tussle the home points came from Billy Shilton and Dennis Wadley with a point each and a brace from Clive Ellison. But the difference on the night was made by Dave Reeves with a maximum and a point apiece from Harry Gwilliam and Emily Standing. Harry and Dave secured the win 6-4 with a doubles victory. Cirencester were out gunned by Woodchester A on their home table as both David Lloyd and Martin Gunn both scored maximums and Andy Ryder bagged two more. Paul Bird and Ian Heskins scored a point each for the home side as they went down 2-8. David and Martin won the doubles for a comfortable result. Forest Green A made light work of newcomers Phoenix B. Dave Adamson, Alan Giles and Ben Glover were all unbeaten as they inflicted the whitewash. Simon Ward scored a point for Phoenix A on his return to Frampton, but couldn’t prevent the home side winning 9-1 with maximums for Bob Murray and Bill Dawe and two for Steve Porter. Bill and Steve won the doubles in four. Steve Greening scored a point for home side Whiteshill, but Yate ran out victors when Andy Cox and Will Berkley were unbeaten in singles and doubles and Keith Sheppard scored two more. Whiteshill A 1, Yate 9 was the final score.

 

Week 3: Simon Ward produced another good performance for Phoenix A beating both Dave Adamson and Alan Giles, but unfortunately for the home side that was the total of their scoring as Ben Glover was unbeaten on the night and Dave and Alan scored a brace apiece. Dave Harvey joined Alan to win the doubles and clinch a 8-2 victory for Forest Green A. Phoenix B are finding the going tough losing 1-9 at home to Cirencester. The visitor’s trio of Ian Heskins, Paul Bird and Charlie Jefferies won all their sets, although all but one went to 4 or 5. Richard Maddrell and Greg Day combined to salvage a point winning the doubles in 3. Dave Reeves was the top man for Thornbury A, winning all his sets against visiting Yate. Harry Gwilliam and Len Vowles scored two each to complete the scoring for Thornbury. Will Berkley secured two singles points for Yate before teaming up with Andy Cox to win a tight doubles in five. Final score Thornbury 7 Yate 3. Woodchester B narrowly beat their club mates Woodchester A in a good mannered close encounter with only Clive Ellison unbeaten on the night for the visitors. Mark Farrow scored a brace for the home side and David Lloyd another. Billy Shilton with one and Tony Clarkson with two added to Clive’s score, before David and Mark won the doubles in three to keep the score line respectable at 4-6.

 

Week 4: Thornbury A move to second place in the league with a convincing 9-1 win against Whiteshill A. Len Vowles and Ian Maggs were unbeaten in singles and doubles, Julian Elsbury conceded the point losing to Steve Greening in the fifth. Yate entertained Woodchester A and thanks to a fine maximum from Andy Cox ran out 6-4 winners. Will Berkley scored a brace for the home side and combined with Andy to win the doubles after Dave Lloyd with two and one each from Keith Armstrong and James Ashton completed Woodchester’s scoring. Woodchester B took nine points from the visitors, Phoenix B with maximums for Billy Shilton and Nick Collins and two for Dennis Wadley. Richard Maddrell scored a consolation point for Phoenix before Billy and Nick just nicked the doubles in five. Forest Green A were made to work hard for their points to take them to the top of the table. Olly Tyndall won all his sets and with Alan Giles winning two and Ben Glover one gave the home side six points. Visiting Frampton A had Bill Dawe to thank for a brace, and a singles win for Abu Saeehbai before the same two combined to win the doubles.

 

Week 5: Woodchester A sent visiting Thornbury A home pointless as Mark Farrow, Dave Lloyd and Martin Gunn all went unbeaten on the night but were somewhat flattered by the 10-0 score line. Phoenix A suffered a home defeat at the hands of Woodchester B going down 1-9. Billy Shilton and Clive Ellison both returned maximums for the visitors and Tony Clarkson bagged himself a brace. Simon Ward scored a consolation point for the home side before Billy and Tony won the doubles. Not to be outdone by their club mates Phoenix B lost by the same score when Yate visited. Will Berkley and Andy Cox were both unbeaten in singles and doubles and Keith Sheppard also won two. Richard Maddrell was the lone scorer for Phoenix. Seems like a popular score this week (depending which side of the net you are on) as Frampton A defeated Cirencester 9-1. Bob Murray and Bill Dawe both scored maximums and two more for Steve Porter gave the home side a comfortable lead. Ian Heskins scored a point for Ciren before Bill and Steve closed out the evening with a doubles win.

 

Week 6: Strong performances for Yate from Andy Cox and Will Berkley with maximums in singles and winning the doubles from 2-1 down, gave them a 7-3 win against visiting Phoenix A. Simon Ward, Rich Cole and Laurence Manley each won a set for Phoenix. Woodchester A had a convincing 10-0 victory over the visiting Whiteshill A with Dave Lloyd, Andrew Ryder and James Ashton all unbeaten on the night. Clive Ellison was on fine form for Woodchester B with a maximum against the visiting Frampton A. Bob Murray and Bill Dawe each scored a brace and won the doubles for the visitors, Tony Clarkson and Nick Collins scored a point each to complete Woodchester’s score for a 5-5 draw. A brace of wins for Ian Heskins earned Cirencester two points against the visiting Forest Green A. Dave Adamson (3), Alan Giles and Ben Glover scored two wins each. Final score 2-8. Phoenix B are finding the going tough in the top flight, going down 10-0 at Thornbury A. Len Vowles, Harry Gwillam and Julian Elsbury were all unbeaten for the home side.

 

Week 7: Nailsworth Phoenix A lost 2-8 at home to Thornbury A with Simon Ward scoring both the wins for the home side. Dave Reeves was unbeaten for Thornbury and Len Vowles and Ian Maggs each won two. Ian and Dave combined to win the doubles in three. Phoenix B suffered the same fate at home to Woodchester A. Richard Maddrell was on good form for the home side scoring a brace. Dave Lloyd recorded a maximum for the visitors and there was a brace each for Billy Shilton and James Ashton. Final score 2-8. Forest Green scored 9 points against the Woodchester B visitors 1, with Dave Harvey and Olly Tyndal both unbeaten and a brace for Dave Adamson. Clive Ellison scored a consolation for Woodchester. Andy Cox got Yate off to a good start at Frampton A beating Bob Murray, but it went downhill from there as Frampton ran out 9-1 winners. With Abu Saleh and Bill Dawe both unbeaten in singles play. Steve Greening and Rupert Harris each won a point for Whiteshill as they went down 2-8 at home to Cirencester. Paul Bird and Ian Heskins both scored maximums and Charlie Jefferies one before Paul and Ian won the doubles.

 

Week 8: Phoenix B collected their first win of the season beating 2 man Whiteshill A 6-4 at Nailsworth. Steve Greening was on good form for the visitors winning all his three singles and Alan Churchill picked up another point. Richard Maddrell and Matt Anderson “won” a singles each and combined to win the doubles. Yate were also forced to play with two when they entertained Forest Green A. Andy Cox did well, picking up two points for the home side. But one each for Alan Giles and Dave Adamson and a Brace for Dave Harvey gave the visitors an 8-2 win after Alan and Dave Harvey won the doubles. David Lloyd was again on good form scoring another maximum, this time against the visiting Phoenix A, although he was made to work hard in a five setter against Simon Ward. James Ashton with two and Martin Gunn with one completed the home side’s singles wins. Simon Ward scored a brace and Laurence Manley won another for the visitors before Martin and David won the doubles. The home Cirencester trio of Charlie Jefferies, Paul Bird and Ian Heskins all got on the score card as they went down 7-3 at Woodchester B. Clive Ellison (3), Nick Collins (2) and Dennis Wadley (1) scored the points for the home team. Harry Gwilliam scored the single point for Thornbury A when they entertained a strong Frampton A team. Bob Murray and Bill Dawe both scored maximums and Abu Saleh bagged a brace. Abu and Bill sealed the 9-1 win with the doubles.

 

Week 9: It was Phoenix A, who came away with club bragging rights as they beat their B team club mates 7-3. Simon Ward was on good form for the home side with a maximum and not dropping a game. He was well backed up by Rich Cole and Laurence Manley who bagged a brace apiece. Nick Watts scored his first two points for the B team and then teamed up with Rich Maddrell to win the doubles. Yate travelled to Cirencester and came away with a 7-3 win thanks to maximums from Andy Cox and Will Berkley and another point from Keith Sheppard. Charlie Jefferies and Ian Heskins each won a singles and Ciren also won the doubles. The honours were shared in a 5-5 tussle between Forest Green A and Thornbury A. David Reeves was the best on the night scoring three for the visiting Thornbury and was assisted by Emily Standing and Len Vowles with a point each. Olly Tyndall and Dave Harvey each won two and combined to win the doubles securing the draw. Bill Dawe scored the solitary point for Frampton A as they lost 1-9 at home to Woodchester A. Martin Gunn and Lee Thomas went unbeaten in singles and doubles and there was a brace of wins for Mark Farrow. Whiteshill Vets A collected three valuable points as they went down 3-7 at home to Woodchester B thanks to a singles win apiece for Steve Greening and Toby Harris. Billy Shilton and Tony Clarkson each recorded maximums and there was another point for Dennis Wadley for the visitors. Steve and Toby then recovered from 5-1 down in the fifth to win the doubles and another point.

 

Week 10: The points were shared in this mid table clash at 5 apiece between Woodchester B and the visiting Yate. Best on the night was Clive Ellison for the home side with a maximum, Nick Collins and Billy Shilton won one each to complete Woodchester’s score. Andy Cox and Will Berkley each won two and then sealed the draw by winning the doubles. League leaders Forest Green A were held to a five all draw at home to Woodchester A. Dave Harvey was unbeaten for the home side and was backed up by Olly Tyndall with a brace. Lee Thomas scored two in reply for Woodchester and Dave Lloyd and Martin Gunn added one each before Lee and Martin won the doubles. Frampton A put the pressure on Forest Green when they overcame Phoenix B 10-0. Steve Porter, Bob Murray and Abu Salem were all unbeaten. Whiteshill A struggled to contain Phoenix A and were beaten 9-1 at home. Simon Ward and Rich Cole scored a maximum apiece and there was a brace for Laurence Manley. Steve Greening scored a consolation for Whiteshill before Rich and Laurence won the doubles.

 

Week 11: Simon Ward was again on good form for Phoenix A as they overcame a weakened Frampton A 8-2 at home. Simon and Laurence Manley each scored a maximum and Rich Cole a brace for Phoenix. Steve Porter won a singles and joined Simon Philp to win the doubles in five. Phoenix B found Forest Green A too strong going down 0-10 at home. Alan Giles, Ben Glover and Dave Harvey all going unbeaten in singles and doubles. Woodchester A came out on top in a very competitive match against Cirencester. Dave Lloyd scored a max and Andrew Ryder and Keith Armstrong scored two apiece. Paul Bird and Ian Heskins both got on the score card before Dave and Keith won the doubles to win the match 8-2. Yate had a convincing 9-1 win against Whiteshill A. Andy Cox and Will Berkley both scored maximums and Keith Sheppard a brace. Steve Greening scored a consolation for the visitors before Will and Keith combined to win the doubles.

 

Week 12: Keith Sheppard led the way for Yate when they beat the visiting Thornbury A 6-4. Keith and Will Berkley scored a brace of wins each and Andy Cox won another for the home side. Emily Standing and Julian Elsbury each won two for the visitors before Andy and Will sealed victory with a doubles win. Ian Heskins was on good form scoring a max and helping Cirencester beat the visiting Phoenix B 7-3. Ian was helped by Charlie Jefferies with two and Paul Bird with another win. Matt Anderson scored a brace for the visiting team and Rich Maddrell added another point before Paul and Charlie won the doubles. Dave Harvey played and won his three then made an early exit for Forest Green A when they beat local rivals Phoenix A 9-1. Ben Glover then also won three and Alan Giles won another two. Simon Ward scored a consolation for the visitors and Ben and Alan were left to win the doubles. Frampton A made light work of demolishing Whiteshill A ten nil with only one set going beyond three. Bob Murray, Steve Porter and Abu Saleh did the damage.

 

Week 13: Martin Gunn top scored with a maximum for Woodchester A when they beat the travelling Yate 7-3, James Ashton scored another point for the home side and Mark Farrow bagged a brace before he joined with Martin to win the doubles in five. In reply Andy Cox, Will Berkley and Keith Sheppard recorded a win apiece. A weakened Frampton A could not contain table topping Forest Green A losing 1-9 at home. Olly Tindall and Alan Giles each scored a max and Dave Adamson a brace for the visitors. Bob Murray scored a consolation point for Frampton before Olly and Dave won the doubles. A strong team performance gave Phoenix A an 8-2 victory over Cirencester. Rich Cole and Liwu Wei each scored maximums and Laurence Manley won two more. Ian Heskins scored a consolation and then joined Paul Bird to win the doubles 12-10 in the fifth. Phoenix B picked up two valuable points when they entertained Woodchester B thanks to a singles win for Richard Maddrell who then combined with Nick Watts to win a hard fought doubles. Tony Clarkson and Nick Collins each scored a maximum for the visitors and Dennis Wadley scored another two.

 

Week 14: Li Wu Wei made an impressive debut for Phoenix B when they travelled to Yate, scoring a maximum. Richard Maddrell and Nick Watts both won a set each to complete the visitors score. Andy Cox and Will Berkley both bagged a brace before combining to win the doubles in five and secure the draw. Although Woodchester B could only field two players, Clive Ellison and Tony Clarkson went unbeaten in singles and doubles and defeated the visiting Phoenix A 7-3.

 

Week 15: Yate edged this mid table struggle with Phoenix A 6-4 in a close fought match at Nailsworth. Simon Ward got the home team off to a good start and ended up with a brace of wins, and was backed up by Rich Cole and Laurence Manley who won a point apiece. A good team effort from Yate ensured the win as Andy Cox and Will Berkley scored two wins each and Keith Sheppard another before Andy and Will sealed the win with a tightly contested doubles win. Phoenix B entertained Thornbury A and secured three valuable points as they went down 3-7 to their visitors. Andy Hammond and Nick Watts each scored a singles win for Phoenix, but Ian Maggs and Julian Elsbury proved too strong both going unbeaten. Emily Standing scored another point for Thornbury before Nick was joined by Rich Maddrell to win an exciting doubles in five. Forest Green A completed a comfortable 8-2 victory over the visiting Cirencester. Dave Adamson and Ben Glover were unbeaten for the Green and Alan Giles bagged a brace. Ian Heskins scored a singles win for the visitors and Cirencester completed the match with a doubles triumph.

 

Week 16: Table topping Forest Green A found the going tough when they visited Woodchester B losing to a good team performance from the home side. Nick Collins scored one point and Clive Ellison and Tony Clarkson bagged a brace each. Dave Harvey kept the visitors in it with a maximum and their other point was scored by Ben Glover. Clive and Tony sealed the win in a five set doubles. Ciren had a comfortable win against the visiting Whiteshill A with Charlie Jefferies, Ian Heskins and Paul Bird all unbeaten in singles and doubles. Thornbury A edged the match with Phoenix A winning out 6-4. Len Vowles and Julian Elsbury each won two and Harry Gwilliam won another for the home side. Simon Ward led the way for Phoenix A with a brace and there was a win apiece for Rich Cole and Laurence Manley. Len and Julian sealed victory winning the doubles in three. Will Berkley was in excellent form winning all three for Yate when they entertained Frampton A. Will was backed up by Andy Cox with two and another from Keith Sheppard. Bill Dawe scored two for Frampton and Bob Murray one before they combined to win the doubles but could not prevent Yate winning the match 6-4.

 

Week 17: A magnificent match at Frampton A gave the home side a narrow 6-4 victory over the visiting Thornbury A thanks mainly to a tremendous maximum from Abu Saleh which included the scalp of David Reeves. Bill Dawe scored a brace for home team before combining with Abu to win the doubles. David Reeves with two and one apiece for Emily Standing and Len Vowles completed Thornbury’s scoring. The points were shared when Woodchester A visited Phoenix A. Simon Ward got the hosts off to a good start with a brace and was well backed up by Rich Cole and Mike Davis who scored a point each. James Ashton was on good form and went unbeaten for the visitors and Nick Collins bagged a brace. Simon and Rich edged the doubles in five to secure the draw. Phoenix B came out on top in the battle for ninth position when they visited Whiteshill A. Richard Maddrell and Li Wu Wei both went unbeaten in singles and doubles, while Nick Watts bagged another two for the Phoenix club. Alan Churchill scored a consolation for Whiteshill for a final score of 1-9. Cirencester were well beaten by the visiting Woodchester B. The visitors points came from Billy Shilton and Clive Ellison with maximums and a Tony Clarkson brace. Paul Bird scored a consolation for the home team before Billy and Clive combined to win a tight doubles 14-12 in the fifth for a final score of 1-9. Forest Green A and Yate shared the points in a 5-5 draw. Dave Harvey was unbeaten for the home side and Olly Tyndal scored two. Will Berkley scored two for Yate and Andy Cox and Keith Sheppard won one each. Yate won the doubles to secure a well earned draw.

 

Week 18: A maximum for Li Wu Wei kept Phoenix B in the match but was not enough to prevent the “visiting” Phoenix A claiming the bragging rights and running out 6-4 winners. Simon Ward and Rich Cole won two apiece and Laurence Manley another for the A team. The highlight was the match between Li and Simon, which swung both ways only for Li to come back and win it in the fifth. Richard Maddrell won another single for the home team but Simon and Rich won the doubles coming back from two one down to edge the result in their favour. Woodchester B made short work of the visiting Whiteshill A only dropping one game in the doubles as Clive Ellison, Tony Clarkson and Billy Shilton all went unbeaten. Thornbury A dealt Forest Green A’s title hopes a blow, beating the visitors 7-3. Dave Reeves was outstanding for Thornbury winning all his three sets and was backed up by Harry Qwilliam with a brace and a singles win for Emily Standing. Dave Harvey scored two for the Green and Alan Giles completed their scoring. Emily and Dave combined for Thornbury to win a comfortable doubles in three and seal a fine result.

 

Week 19: Phoenix A had a comfortable 10-0 win against bottom side Whiteshill A with Simon Ward, Rich Cole and Laurence Manley all going unbeaten. Thornbury A had a similar result against a two player Cirencester. Emily Standing, Dave Reeves and Len Vowles were the unbeaten home trio. Will Berkley scored Yate’s only singles point as they went down 2-8 at home to Woodchester B. Clive Ellison and Billy Shilton both returned maximums and there was a brace of wins for Nick Collins. Yate salvaged another point winning the doubles in three. Li Wu Wei maintained his good form winning all his three when Phoenix B entertained Frampton A. Bob Murray, Bill Dawe and Steve Porter bagged a brace apiece and Bill and Steve combined to win the doubles in three to give the visitors a 7-3 victory.

 

Week 20: Although Woodchester B could only field two players they were still strong enough to beat the visiting Thornbury A 6-4 thanks to a Clive Ellison max and a Tony Clarkson brace. Julian Elsbury “scored” a point for Thornbury before Clive and Tony won the doubles in three. Yate fared the same at Whiteshill A, taking only two players Yate ran out 6-4 winners with Andy Cox winning three and Keith Sheppard two. Rupert Harris “scored” a consolation point for the home team. Andy and Keith won the doubles in three. Forest Green A overcame a spirited Phoenix B, winning their home match 9-1 thanks to Dave Adamson and Dave Harvey scoring maximums and Ben Glover scoring a brace. Li Wu Wei scored a consolation point for the visitors before the Green won the doubles in four. The Cirencester trio of Charlie Jefferies, Paul Bird and Ian Heskins all scored a point each and won the doubles while losing 4-6 at home to Woodchester A. Woodchester had James Ashton and Clive Ellison to thank as each returned maximums.

 

Week 21: Phoenix A found the experienced Forest Green A team too hot to handle, losing 2-8 at home in a late finishing match. Dave Harvey and Dave Adamson went unbeaten in both singles and doubles for the visitors and Alan Giles single completed their scoring. Rich Cole and Laurence Manley each won a five game set against Alan Giles. A masterclass display from Thornbury A’s Dave Reeves couldn’t prevent the visiting Yate team going home with a 6-4 win. A Dave Reeves maximum and a singles win for Len Vowles completed the home sides score. Andy Cox and Will Berkley bagged a brace each for Yate and combined to win the doubles in five to add to Keith Sheppard’s singles win. Phoenix B got the better of their opponents from Cirencester, coming away with an 8-2 victory thanks to Li Wu Wei with a maximum and a brace apiece from Nick Watts and Matt Anderson. Ian Heskins won two for the visitors before Li and Nick combined to win the doubles in three. No one player could dominate when Woodchester A and B teams clashed. The “A” side playing at home had a Martin Gunn brace and singles wins from James Ashton and Dave Lloyd, while the visiting “B” team’s points came from Clive Ellison and Tony Clarkson with two apiece and a singles win for Nick Collins. James and Martin combined to win an exciting doubles in five to share the match at five sets all.

 

Week 22: The Thornbury A team of Harry Gwillian, Len Vowles and Ian Maggs proved to be too strong for the visiting Whiteshill A inflicting a whitewash on the bottom side. Steve Greening playing again for Whiteshill having had the plaster cast removed from his foot the day before. Yate and the visiting Woodchester A shared the points at five all in an entertaining contest. Andy Cox and Will Berkley bagged a brace apiece for the home side with Keith Sheppard completing their scoring. James Ashton was man of the match for the visitors scoring a maximum and combining with Dave Lloyd, who scored a singles win, to win an exciting doubles in five to secure the draw. Clive Ellison was man of the match for Woodchester B winning all his singles when they entertained Phoenix B. Tony Clarkson and Nick Collins each scored a brace to give the home side a 7-3 victory. Li Wu Wei won two singles for the visitors before joining Rich Maddrell in coming back from two down to win the doubles in five. Cirencester lost 1-9 to the visiting Phoenix A, and had Ian Heskins to thank for their point. Simon Ward and Rich Cole each scored a maximum and Laurence Manley scored a brace. Forest Green A were held to a five all draw at home to Frampton A. Bob Murray scored a brace but was trumped by Abu Salehbhai who scored a fine maximum. Forest Green’s points came from a Dave Harvey double and singles wins for Dave Adamson and Ben Glover, plus the doubles.

 

Week 23: Woodchester A played out their third five all draw in a row when entertaining Thornbury A. Dave Lloyd was man of the match for Woodchester, winning all his three and James Ashton added another. Harry Gwillam and Dave Reeves bagged a brace each for the visitors with Emily Standing completing their score. Dave and James combined to win the doubles in four for the home side. Phoenix A played host to Woodchester B and conceded a 3-7 defeat. Tony Clarkson with a max, Nick Collins with a brace and a singles win for Dennis Wadley proved decisive. Phoenix A hit back with a pair for Simon Ward and a singles win for Rich Cole. Tony and Dennis combined to win the doubles. Bob Murray, Abu Saleh and Steve Porter all went unbeaten as they defeated the visiting Cirencester 10-0. Yate could only field two players on their visit to Phoenix B and were beaten 7-3. Li Wu Wei went unbeaten for the hosts and Nick Watts won another. Andy Cox bagged a brace for Yate and Keith Shepard’s singles win completed their scoring as Li and Nick combined to win the doubles in four. Whiteshill A were whitewashed at home by Forest Green A.

 

Week 24: Thornbury A just did enough to beat the visiting Phoenix B 6-4, Harry Gwillam and Len Vowles bagged a brace apiece while Emily Standing scored another singles win. Li Wu Wei was again man of the match for Phoenix B returning a maximum, while Nick Watts completed his sides scoring. Harry and Len won the doubles in four. Yate were too strong for the visiting Phoenix A with Will Berkley scoring three, Andy Cox two and Keith Sheppard one. Simon Ward bagged a brace for Phoenix A and Rich Cole completed the visitors scoring. Andy and Will won the doubles in three to seal a 7-3 victory. Cirencester entertained table topping Forest Green A and conceded defeat 2-8 with singles wins for Charlie Jefferies and Ian Heskins. Forest Green’s points came from Dave Adamson and Ben Glover with three apiece and one from John Crowther plus the doubles. Woodchester A kept the pressure on the league leaders with a comfortable 8-2 victory over bottom side Whiteshill A. James Ashton and Dave Lloyd each returned maximums and Keith Armstrong contributed a brace of wins. Steve Greening won a set for the visitors then combined with Toby Harris to win the doubles in four.

 

Week 25: Phoenix A found the Thornbury A team too strong conceding a 2-8 home defeat. Simon Ward and Rich Cole scored a point apiece for the home side but the two best players on the night were Len Vowles and Emily Standing, both scoring maximums, Emily’s was her first of the season. Ian Maggs won a set before Len and Emily won the doubles in four. Le Wu Wei scored the only point for Phoenix B as they lost 1-9 at home to Woodchester A. Dave Lloyd and Mark Farrow went unbeaten in singles and doubles while James Ashton bagged a brace. Forest Green A and Woodchester B shared the spoils at five apiece. Ben Glover and Olly Tyndall each scored a pair and then won the doubles. Clive Ellison scored a max for Woodchester and after losing to Clive, Dave Harvey conceded to Nick Collins and Dennis Wadley. The Frampton A team of Bob Murray, Steve Porter and Bill Dawe proved to be too strong for the two man Yate team inflicting a whitewash. Whiteshill A edged the match against two player Cirencester thanks to a brace from Steve Greening plus the doubles. Charlie Jefferies and Ian Heskins also won two sets each. Match result, Whiteshill 6 Cirencester 4.

 

Week 26: Woodchester B proved to be too strong for the visiting Cirencester as the home trio of Clive Ellison, Tony Clarkson and Billy Shilton won all their singles sets. Paul Bird and Ian Heskins won the doubles in five for the visitors to avoid the whitewash. Woodchester A had a slightly closer match against the visiting two player Phoenix A. James Ashton “scored” two for the home team and Dave Lloyd another. Simon Ward bagged a brace for the visitors and Laurence Manley scored another, then the same two combined to win the doubles in five leaving the match score at 6-4 to Woodchester. Dave Reeves was man of the match for Thornbury A scoring a maximum as they beat the visiting Frampton A 7-3.Team mates Julian Elsbury bagged a brace and Len Vowles scored another. Frampton’s points came from Abu Salehbhai with two and one for Bob Murray. The home pair of Dave and Julian combined to win the doubles in three. Phoenix B recorded a comfortable 7-3 victory over bottom of the table Whiteshill A, thanks to a maximum from Li Wu Wei, a brace from Rich Maddrell and a singles set from Matt Anderson. Steve Greening bagged a brace for the visitors and Rupert Harris completed their scoring before Li and Rich won the doubles in four. Yate entertained league leaders Forest Green A and although Forest Green could only field two players, Olly Tyndal and Dave Harvey won all their singles and the doubles to leave with a 7-3 victory.

 

Week 27: A hard fought match at Frampton saw the hosts come out on top by six points to four against Woodchester A. Bill Dawe was in superb form for Frampton A with a straight games maximum and was backed up by Bob Murray with a brace and a singles win for Ollie Philp. Dave Lloyd scored a pair for the visitors and James Ashton and Andrew Ryder scored one apiece. Dave and James won the doubles in four. The points were shared between Phoenix A and Phoenix B with man of the match Li Wu Wei scoring a maximum for the “visitors” and Rich Madrell bagging a brace. Simon Ward scored two wins for the A team and Rich Cole and Mike Davis won one each. Simon and Rich won an entertaining doubles in five to secure the draw. Yate duplicated their recent win over their hosts from Cirencester with a convincing 9-1 victory. Ian Heskins scored the only point for the home side, while there were maximums from Andy Cox and Will Berkley, and a brace from Keith Sheppard for Yate. Will and Keith won the doubles in five.
