Week 1: Ken Bridle and Mike Hanks scored a point apiece as a two man Woodchester C lost 2-8 at home to Thornbury B. The visitors won the doubles after Gavin Rogers and Mark Attwood had each bagged a brace. Pessimists also could only field two but with a pair for Barry Morgan and a full house for Tim Chancellor and a doubles win gave them a 6-4 victory over young Woodchester for whom Emily Philp starred with a win against Barry. Nailsworth A got the better of their local rivals as the beat Phoenix C 7-3. Dave Pugh was unbeaten on the night and was well supported by Wayne Hopkins with two and a singles win for Alan Wheeler. There was a point apiece from Mike Davis, Bruce Ind and Bob Waters for the visitors. Dave and Wayne won the doubles and sealed the win. A new look Frampton B made light work of their hosts, beating Randwick A 10 nil. Olly and Simon Philp and Kim Selfe all went unbeaten on the night.

 

Week 2: Phoenix C recorded a 7-3 victory at home to Thorbury C as Mike Davis, Pete Stuart and Bob Waters each scored two. Graham Eden was on form for the visitors with a maximum before Mike and Bob ended the night with a doubles win. Randwick A could only field two players when they visited Woodchester D but still came away with six points with Robbie Hawkins unbeaten and a brace for Dan Ind. Emily Philp scored the point for Woodchester in played games. Frampton B scored their second whitewash in two weeks as Dave Pearce, Kim Selfe and Rob Munson made light work of Woodchester C. The home team of Sue Bailey, Mark Attwood and Simon Lewis each won two as Thornbury B beat Nailsworth A 7-3. Dave Pugh recorded a max for the visitors but Mark and Simon sealed the win with a doubles victory.

 

Week 3: Randwick A could only field 2 players for the visit of Forest Green B. Ray Bassett recorded the single point for the home team as they went down 1-9. Craig Smart and John Pobjoy each won two, and John Crowther another before the later joined Craig to win the doubles. Thornbury C took 3 points from their match with Nailsworth A thanks to Kim Morris with a brace and another win for Len Pattison. The visitor’s points came as a result of an unbeaten night for Alan Welsh, two for Dave Pugh and a single win for Alan Wheeler. Dave and Alan Welsh won the doubles for a final score Thornbury 3 Nailsworth 7. Frampton B are the early division favourites dropping just their first point of the season on their visit to Thornbury B. Dave Pearce along with Ollie and Simon Philp won all their singles. Simon went to five in all his sets so couldn’t manage the doubles which were won by Simon Lewis and Gavin Rogers, salvaging a point for their night’s effort.

 

Week 4: Things went to form when competing club teams, Thornbury C and B played each other, with the “visiting” B team winning 7-3. All the C team got on the score sheet with a single win each for Kim Morris, Len Pattison and Graham Eden. Gavin Rogers and Simon Lewis both scored a max for the B team then combined to win the doubles. Phoenix C had a close match with Randwick A, and clinched victory with a fine doubles performance from Mike Davis and Connor Ward. Earlier Mike Davis went unbeaten and Connor and Bob Waters each won a set. Randwick’s reply came with a brace of sets for Robbie Hawkins and Dan Ind. Woodchester C had to work hard for their two points at Forest Green B with the home side in good form. Craig Smart and Jimmy Haycraft both went unbeaten in singles and John Crowther won another. Ken Bridle and Roger Davis each won a set for the visitors before Craig and John won the doubles in three. It was mother and daughter verses father and son when Woodchester D entertained Frampton B. In a match much closer than the final score indicated, the only point for the home side was when Emily Philp beat “big brother” Ollie in four. Gerry Dupree was not to be left out scoring a max for Frampton and with Simon Philp also unbeaten in singles then joined Ollie(2) to win the doubles in four.

 

Week 5: Randwick A were in good form when they took on and beat Nailsworth A 8-2 at home. Ray Bassett and Dan Ind both went unbeaten in singles for the home team and Jim Hurford won another. Alan Welsh and Wayne Hopkins scored a point each for the visitors before Ray and Jim won the doubles in three. Pessimists with only two players this season still managed a 6-4 win against visiting Thornbury C, with Barry Morgan winning two and Tim Chancellor all three. Graham Eden “won” a single point for Thornbury. Barry and Tim sealed the victory with a doubles win. Frampton B maintained their good start to the season overcoming Forest Green B 7-3 at home. Simon Philp again showing good form with three wins was backed up by Dave Pearce (2) and Rob Munson (1). A brace for Jimmy Haycraft and a point for John Pobjoy secured Forest Greens points then Simon and Dave won the doubles in four.

 

Week 6: Tim Chancellor was again on good form for Pessimists, winning all his singles as they drew 5-5 with visiting Thornbury B. Gavin Rogers and Simon Lewis both bagged a brace for Thornbury and Sue Bailey completed their scoring. Barry Morgan won a singles set for Pessimists before joining Tim to secure the draw with a doubles win. Visiting Randwick A were too strong for their Thornbury C hosts leaving with all ten points as Robbie Hawkins, Ray Bassett and Dan Ind were all unbeaten. Phoenix C could not contain the runaway Frampton B when they entertained them losing 2-8. Rob Munson and Simon Philp were both unbeaten for the visitors and Oli Philp won another. Pete Stuart and Bob Waters each won a point for the home side before Oli and Rob won the doubles. In a game closer than the 7-3 score line shows, Forest Green B beat visiting Woodchester D. Craig Smart, John Crowther and John Pobjoy won two sets each for the Green. Stan Shilton won two and Emily Philp won one for the visitors before Craig and John Crowther won the doubles.

 

Week 7: Again Pessimists could only field two players but still ran out 6-4 winners at Randwick A. Barry Morgan won three and Tim Chancellor two for the visitors then combined to win the doubles. Jim Hurford “scored” a solitary point for the home team. Emily Philp was on good form with a maximum for her Woodchester D side as they shared the points with Phoenix C and was backed up with a brace from Stan Shilton. Mike Davis scored two and there was a point apiece for Bob Waters and Joe Sheppard for the visitors before Mike and Bob secured the draw by winning the doubles. Another strong performance gave Frampton B an 8-2 victory over the visiting Nailsworth A. Rob Munson scored a max and there were two wins each for Simon Philp and Kim Selfe. Dave Pugh and Wayne Hopkins scored for Nailsworth before Kim and Rob won the doubles in five from two love down to seal the match.

 

Week 8: The points were shared at five all when Randwick A played Thornbury B. Dan Ind was on top form for the home side with a maximum and Ray Bassett and Jim Hurford won one each. Gavin Rogers and Simon Lewis each scored a brace for Thornbury and combined to win the doubles. Frampton B made light work of their Thornbury C hosts dropping only two games on their way to another 10-0 victory. Dave Pearce, Kim Selfe and Rob Munson did the damage for Frampton. Nailsworth A beat the visiting Woodchester D 7-3 thanks to a max from Dave Pugh, a brace from Wayne Hopkins and a singles win from Alan Welsh. Stan Shilton won two for the visitors and Pat Pumphrey another. Dave and Wayne closed out the match with a doubles win. Having started well, being 3-2 up, Phoenix C succumbed to the visiting Forest Green B losing the match 3-7. Mike Davis scored a brace for the home team and Bob Waters won another. Jimmy Haycraft was unbeaten for the visitors and was backed up by Craig Smart (2) and John Pobjoy (1). Forest Green won a close fought doubles in five. A full strength Pessimists entertained and beat the visiting two man Woodchester C 8-2. Barry Morgan and Tim Chancellor were unbeaten in singles and doubles for the home team. Colin Bruton and Roger Davis each scored a point for the visitors.

 

Week 9: Forest Green B could only field two players in the local derby with Nailsworth A. A Jimmy Haycraft brace and a singles win for John Pobjoy gave the home side three points. Dave Pugh won two and Wayne Hopkins won another before combining to win the doubles and seal victory 7-3. Randwick A came out 6-3 winners when they visited Woodchester C but both teams unfortunately could only field two players. Ken Bridle “scored” a point for the home side and Ray Bassett “scored” two and Jim Hurford one for the visitors. Ray and Jim won the doubles and everyone had an early night. It was a good night’s work for Thornbury B when they beat Phoenix C 9-1. Gavin Rogers and Mark Attwood both scored maximums and Simon Lewis a brace. Bob Waters scored a consolation for the visitors before Gavin and Mark won the doubles. Thornbury C picked up six valuable points when they travelled to Woodchester to play the D team. Viv Wilkie scored a maximum on her debut for Thornbury and was backed up by a brace from Len Pattison and another point for Kim Morris. Stan Shilton scored two for the home team and Emily Philp scored another point before she and Stan won the doubles. Frampton B keep piling on the points, this time beating two man Pessimists 9-1. Simon Philp and Kim Selfe scored two each and Oli Philp scored one. Barry Morgan scored a consolation for the visitors before Kim and Oli won the doubles.

 

Week 10: The returning Bruce Ind got Phoenix C back on track with a maximum, and with a brace for Mike Davis and Bob Waters the home side beat Nailsworth A 7-3. Dave Pugh and Alan Wheeler won a point each and combined to win the doubles in five. Forest Green B entertained Thornbury C and finished as 8-2 victors. John Pobjoy and Jimmy Haycraft each won three, and John Crowther one. In reply, Viv Wilkie and Graham Eden won a point each. John Crowther and Jimmy won the doubles. Thornbury B and Woodchester C shared the spoils at Thornbury when the home pair of Gavin Rogers and Simon Lewis bagged a brace each and then won the doubles. In reply, there was also a brace each for Ken Bridle and Colin Bruton and a singles win for Roger Davis. All the Frampton B players, Dave Pearce, Simon Philp and Rob Munson won two sets each as they beat Randwick A 7-3. Robbie Hawkins put up stern resistance though winning all his sets for the visitors.

 

Week 11: Roger Davis scored a brace of wins for Woodchester C when they entertained league leaders Frampton B, but his side still went down 2-8. Simon Philp scored three and Dave Pearce and Oli Philp added two each, then Simon and Oli combined to win the doubles. Ray Bassett and Rob Hawkins scored a brace each and combined to win the doubles as two man Randwick A drew 5-5 with the visiting Woodchester D. Stan Shilton “scored” two points for the visitors. Pessimists shared the spoils with the visiting Forest Green B thanks to a maximum from Tim Chancellor and a singles win from Barry Morgan. John Pobjoy and Jimmy Haycraft scored a brace apiece and John Crowther won a singles. Barry and Tim combined to win the doubles and share the points at 5-5. Graham Eden was the man of the match for Thornbury C winning all three of his sets but couldn’t prevent the visiting Phoenix C winning the match 7-3. Mike Davis, Bob Waters and Bruce Ind won two sets each before Bob and Bruce won the doubles. Dave Pugh scored a solitary point for Nailsworth A as they were comprehensively beaten 1-9 at home against Thornbury B. Gavin Rogers and Mark Attwood went unbeaten in singles and doubles and Simon Lewis bagged a brace. Dave Pugh later tried to burn his bat but couldn’t even light the fire!

 

Week 12: Barry Morgan scored a maximum and kept two man Pessimists in the match at Phoenix C. Mike Davis, Bruce Ind and Bob Waters each won a set and Mike and Bruce won the doubles to give the home side a 7-3 victory. Forest Green B beat visiting Randwick A 6-4 although Randwick could only field two players. John Pobjoy scored one point and Jimmy Haycraft two for the home side. Robbie Hawkins bagged a brace and Ray Bassett won another before they combined to win the doubles in four. Frampton B tightened their grip at the top of the division with a 7-3 win against the visiting Thornbury B. Simon Philp, Kim Selfe and Rob Munson scored a brace apiece for the home team. Gavin Rogers did likewise for Thornbury and Mark Attwood won one before Kim and Rob won the doubles for Frampton.

 

Week 13: Mike Davis scored a fine maximum for Phoenix C when they visited Randwick A and was backed up by team mates Bruce Ind (1) and Bob Waters (2). Ray Bassett won two for Randwick and Rob Hawkins won another before the same two combined to win the doubles and leave the score at 4-6. Stan Shilton got Woodchester D off to a great start by winning the first set, but it was all Frampton B from there on winning the match 9-1, although the score line was a little harsh on the visitors. Kim Selfe and Rob Munson were unbeaten in singles and doubles and Dave Pearce won the other two. Pessimists, again struggling for a full side were beaten 2-8 at home to Nailsworth A. Barry Morgan again produced the goods winning two sets for the home team. Dave Pugh “scored” two wins for the visitors and Alan Wheeler and Alan Welsh one each before Dave and Alan Wheeler won the doubles. Thornbury B claimed the club bragging rights with a convincing 9-1 victory against their C team club mates. Gavin Rogers and Mark Attwood were both unbeaten and Simon Lewis lost a set to Graham Eden, then Gavin and Mark won a comfortable doubles.

 

Week 14: Graham Eden was on good form for Thornbury C as they entertained Pessimists, winning all three of his sets. Viv Wilkie with two and a decisive point from Tracy Dibble gave the home side an unassailable lead. Barry Morgan won two and Tim Chancellor one for the visitors then joined forces to win the doubles. A tough match for Forest Green B saw them lose 3-7 at home to high flying Frampton B. Craig Smart won two for the home team and John Pobjoy won another. Simon Philp was again on good form for the visitors going unbeaten and son Oli bagged a brace, Dave Pearce completed the singles wins then Simon and Oli completed a doubles win in five coming back from two down. Randwick A travelled to Nailsworth A with two players and came away with three points, thanks to a singles win each for Robbie Hawkins and Ray Bassett and winning the doubles in five from two down. Dave Pugh and Alan Welsh were both unbeaten winning two sets each. Mike Davis led Phoenix C to a 7-3 victory over the visiting Woodchester C with a fine maximum. Bob Waters won a further two sets and Bruce Ind won one. Colin Bruton bagged two wins for the visitors and Roger Davis one before Mike and Bob joined forces to win a comfortable doubles.

 

Week 15: Gavin Rogers was man of the match scoring a maximum for Thornbury B as they shared the points with the visiting Pessimists. Mark Attwood completed the scoring for the home side with two singles wins. Tim Chancellor was best for Pessimists with a brace and there was a singles win apiece for Barry Morgan and Alun Davies. Barry and Tim sealed the draw with a comfortable doubles win. The home team, Randwick A, just came out on top in a close match against the visiting Thornbury C. Robbie Hawkins and Ray Bassett each won two and Jim Hurford another as Randwick came back from two love down. Graham Eden and Viv Wilkie also scored two apiece for the visitors before Robbie and Ray sealed a 6-4 victory with a comfortable doubles win. There was no pantomime just the first defeat of the season for Frampton B when they played Phoenix C. Bruce Ind played the villain showing no mercy winning all his three and was backed up by Mike Davis with a pair and Bob Waters with a single. Frampton’s points came from a Dave Pearce brace and a singles for Kim Selfe before the same two combined to bring the curtain down with a doubles win but a 4-6 defeat.

 

Week 16: The points were shared at 5-5 when Forest Green B entertained Thornbury B. John Crowther and Jimmy Haycraft each scored two for the Green with John Pobjoy completing their scoring. The points for Thornbury came from Simon Lewis and Mark Attwood with two each, they then combined to win the doubles in four for a draw. Randwick A team’s new signing, Pavel Sharma, made an impressive start winning all his three sets when they travelled to Pessimists. Barry Morgan scored two and Tim Chancellor one as the home team went down 3-7. A brace from Ray Bassett and one from Jim Hurford completed the singles scoring then Pavel and Ray won the doubles in three. The Thornbury C trio of Graham Eden, Len Pattison and Viv Wilkie scored two wins each as they beat the visiting Woodchester C 6-4. Colin Bruton with 2 and Roger Davis 1 also combined to win the doubles and complete the scoring. A strong performance from the Phoenix C team gave them a 9-1 victory against the youthful Woodchester D. Mike Davis and Bruce Ind scored maximums and Bob Waters bagged two. Emily Philp scored a consolation for the visitors before Bruce and Bob won the doubles.

 

Week 17: Frampton B got back to winning ways thanks to Dave Pearce and Rob Munson scoring hat tricks and a further win for Kim Selfe as they beat the visiting Thornbury C 8-2. Graham Eden and Viv Wilkie scored the visitors points then Dave and Rob won the doubles in three. Thornbury B came unstuck against the visiting Randwick A going down 4-6 at home. Gavin Rogers recorded two wins and there was one apiece for Simon Lewis and Mark Attwood for the home side. Robbie Hawkins scored a max for Randwick and Pavel Sharma bagged a brace before the two combined to win the doubles and seal the match win. All three Woodchester C players, Colin Bruton, Mike Hanks and Roger Davis scored a point as their team went down 3-7 at home to Pessimists. The visitors points all came from Barry Morgan and Tim Chancellor who were both unbeaten in singles and doubles. Mike Davis was on great form for Phoenix C, leading his side to a 6-4 win at local rivals Forest Green B and was backed up by a fine double from Bob Waters. Jimmy Haycraft bagged a brace for the home side and John Pobjoy and John Crowther added one each. Mike and Bob won a convincing doubles to seal the match win.

 

Week 18: Randwick A’s winning form continues, this time at the expense of the visiting Woodchester C. Robbie Hawkins and Pavel Sharma both returned maximums and Ray Bassett won another one. Ken Bridle and Roger Davis won a point each for Woodchester before Robbie and Pavel won the doubles in three for an 8-2 home win. Woodchester D fared much better coming away from Thornbury C with an 8-2 victory. Graham Eden won a couple for the home side, but Emily Philp scored a max and there was a brace each for Jake and Stan Shilton. Emily and Stan combined to win a comfortable doubles. The points were shared in this Nailsworth derby with all the players getting on the scorecard. Dave Pugh was man of the match with a max for Nailsworth A and there was a point each for Alan Wheeler and Wayne Hopkins. John Pobjoy led the response for Forest Green B with a brace and John Crowther and Jimmy Haycraft won one each before John Crowther and Jimmy won a tight doubles in five to secure a 5-5 draw. Bob Waters held the home side together as they continued their good run of results, this time beating the visiting Thornbury B 6-4. Bob’s maximum and a brace for Mike Davis and a singles win for Maz Willsher completed the scoring for Phoenix C. There was a singles win each for all the Thornbury team, of Gavin Rogers, Mark Attwood and Sue Bailey. Gavin and Sue won the doubles in three to complete the night. Tim Chancellor’s single point was the only reward Pessimists gained from their home match with the visiting Frampton B, but the match was much closer than the 1-9 score indicates. Simon Philp and Rob Munson were both unbeaten and Olly Philp bagged two before being joined by his father to win the doubles in five.

 

Week 19: The struggling Woodchester C went down 1-9 at home to Thornbury B with only Colin Bruton getting on the scorecard. Thornbury’s points were scored by Gavin Rogers and Mark Attwood with a max each and a brace from Sue Bailey plus the doubles. Randwick A had a fine result beating the runaway league leaders Frampton B 8-2 at home. Pavel Sharma was unbeaten and Robbie Hawkins and Ray Bassett won two apiece. Frampton’s points came from Dave Pearse and Olly Philp then Pavel and Robbie won a comfortable doubles in three. Thornbury C lost 3-7 at home to the visiting Forest Green B. A Graham Eden Brace and a point for Viv Wilkie completed the home sides score. John Pobjoy was man of the match going undefeated for the Green and there were two wins for Jimmy Haycraft and one for John Crowther, before the latter two won the doubles in three. Emily Philp was star player for Woodchester D, winning all her three singles on their visit to Pessimists. Tim Chancellor did his best for the home side winning two and there was a point each for Barry Morgan and Alun Davies. Stan and Jake Shilton scored a point each to complete the visitors scoring, before Barry and Tim won the doubles and secured the draw. Dave Pugh went unbeaten for Nailsworth A as they shared the points at five apiece with the visiting Phoenix C. Alan Welsh won a singles for the home side and combined with Dave to win the doubles. The visitor’s points came from Bruce Ind and Bob Waters with two each and a singles win for Mike Davis.

 

Week 20: Table topping Frampton B got back on winning ways as they beat the visiting Woodchester C 8-2 thanks to an excellent maximum from Rob Munson and a brace each from Dave Pearce and Ollie Philp. Colin Bruton and Roger Davis each won one for the visitors before Dave and Rob won the doubles. The points were shared between Forest Green B and the visiting Pessimists at five apiece. Jimmy Haycraft excelled for the home side winning all three and John Pobjoy and John Crowther won a point each. Barry Morgan and Tim Chancellor bagged a brace each and then won the doubles to secure the draw. Thornbury B were convincing winners beating the visiting two player Nailsworth A 9-1. Gavin Rogers and Mark Attwood both went unbeaten and Sue Bailey scored another point for the home team. Wayne Hopkins scored a consolation point for the visiting Nailsworth before Gavin and Mark won the doubles. Phoenix C had a comfortable 8-2 win at home to Thornbury C. Mike Davis led from the front winning all his three and Bruce Ind and Bob Waters won two apiece. Viv Wilkie bagged a couple for Thornbury before Bruce and Bob won the doubles. Woodchester D found the visiting Randwick A team too strong with Pavel Sharma, Ray Bassett and Robbie Hawkins all unbeaten for the visitors in singles and doubles giving the visitors a 10-0 victory.

 

Week 21: Frampton B consolidated their position atop the division by beating their hosts Thornbury B 9-1. Simon Philp and Rob Munson each recorded maximums and Ollie Philp bagged a brace for the visitors. Gavin Rogers scored a consolation point for the home side before Ollie and Rob won the doubles in five. Experienced told as Woodchester C triumphed over their “D” team club mates, beating the juniors 7-3. Colin Bruton scored a max, Ken Bridle a brace and Mike Hanks won a singles. Emily Philp with two wins and Stan Shilton with one completed the “visitors” scoring before Colin and Ken won a closely fought doubles in five. The in form  Randwick A enjoyed a 7-3 win against the visiting Forest Green B. Pavel Sharma and Robbie Hawkins were unbeaten in singles and doubles for the hosts and Ray Bassett’s single completed their score. Jimmy Haycraft was best for the visitors, winning two and there was another win for John Pobjoy. Thornbury C picked up eight valuable points from the visiting Nailsworth A, who could only field two players. Graham Eden and Viv Wilkie won two apiece for the home side, while there was one win each for the visiting Alan Wheeler and Wayne Hopkins. Gary Worsfold teamed up with Graham Eden to win the doubles in five for the home team and an 8-2 victory.

 

Week 22: Nailsworth A were convincing winners, beating the visiting Pessimists 7-3. Dave Pugh scored a hat trick, Wayne Hopkins bagged a brace and Alan Welsh scored another for the home team. Tim Chancellor recorded two wins for the visitors and Barry Morgan another before Dave and Wayne combined to win the doubles. Forest Green B proved too hot for the visiting Woodchester C, winning by a comfortable 8-2 margin. John Pobjoy and Jimmy Haycraft each won three and John Crowther another. Roger Davis and Mike Hanks scored a point each for Woodchester before John Pobjoy and Jimmy combined to win the doubles in three. Woodchester D could only field two players when they entertained table topping Frampton B, but Stan Shilton recorded two creditable victories as his side lost 2-8. Dave Pearse went unbeaten while Simon and Ollie Philp won one each, then combined to win the doubles. The “visiting” Thornbury B came out on top, beating Thornbury C 9-1. Graham Eden scored the point for Thornbury C, while there were maximums from Gavin Rogers and Mark Attwood for the B team and a brace For Simon Lewis. Simon and Mark won the doubles in four. The visiting Randwick A were too strong for Phoenix C, inflicting a 7-3 defeat on the home side. Mike Davis scored two wins and Bob Waters another for the Phoenix side. Pavel Sharma won three, Ray Bassett two and Robbie Hawkins won another for Randwick before Pavel and Robbie won the doubles in three to complete the scoring.

 

Week 23: In the match between the “C” teams, Phoenix C came out on top when they visited Woodchester C, inflicting a 7-3 defeat on their hosts. Mike Davis and Bruce Ind each scored a maximum and Bob Waters recorded a singles win to complete the visitors scoring. Roger Davis and Mike Hanks won a singles each and then combined to win the doubles in five. Frampton B recorded a comfortable 9-1 victory against the visiting Forest Green B. Simon Philp and Rob Munson scored a max each and Oli Philp bagged a brace for the home side. Jimmy Haycraft scored a consolation for the Green, then Simon and Oli won the doubles in four to complete a good night’s work. Woodchester D’s chances were hampered when they could only field two players at Thornbury B. Mark Attwood and Sue Bailey were both unbeaten and Simon Lewis won another. Jake Shilton scored a consolation for Woodchester before Mark and Sue won the doubles in five for a 9-1 win.

 

Week 24: Pessimists edged a close fought encounter with Thornbury B winning by six points to four. Barry Morgan and Tim Chancellor each won two and Alun Davies won another for the home side. Mark Attwood returned a maximum and Simon Lewis completed Thornbury’s scoring. Barry and Tim convincingly won the doubles in three to seal the result. The two players Frampton B sent to Phoenix C were too strong for their hosts and returned with a 6-4 victory. Bob Waters “scored” the only point for the home side, while for the visitors, Simon Philp went unbeaten and Ollie Philp won two, the same two combined to win the doubles in four. Graham Eden scored a brace of wins for Thornbury C as his team lost 2-8 at home to Randwick A. Pavel Sharma went unbeaten for the visitors and Robbie Hawkins and Ray Bassett scored a brace apiece, then Pavel and Robbie won the doubles in four. Forest Green B proved to be too strong for the young Woodchester D, recording a 7-3 home win. Jimmy Haycraft was unbeaten, John Pobjoy won two and John Crowther won another. Stan Shilton bagged two for the visitors and Emily Philp completed their score before John Crowther and Jimmy won the doubles.

 

Week 25: Another convincing performance from Frampton B as they convincingly beat the visiting Nailsworth A 8-2. Olly Philp and Rob Munson scored a maximum each and Kim Selfe won another set. Dave Pugh and Alan Wheeler scored a point apiece for the visitors but then lost the doubles in five to Kim and Olly. Thornbury B also had a comfortable home win, they beat the visiting Forest Green B 8-2. Gavin Rogers and Mark Attwood each scored maximums, then Simon Lewis completed their singles scoring. John Pobjoy and Jimmy Haycraft were on target for the visitors before Gavin and Mark comfortably won the doubles in three. Randwick A were held to a draw at home to Pessimists, which turned out to be a fair result on the night. Man of the match was Pavel Sharma for Randwick with a max, team mates Robbie Hawkins and Ray Bassett won a set each to complete the scoring for the home side. Barry Morgan and Tim Chancellor won two sets apiece and then won a fluctuating doubles in five to seal the draw.

 

Week 26: Dave Pugh and Alan Wheeler won two sets each for Nailsworth A as they lost 4-6 at home to Woodchester D. Stan Shilton scored a hat trick for the visitors and team mates Jake Shilton and Emily Philp won a point apiece. Stan was joined by father Mike to win the doubles in three. Phoenix C lost the latest Nailsworth derby 4-6 when they entertained Forest Green B. Jimmy Haycraft was man of the match for the visitors, scoring a max, while John Crowther won two and John Pobjoy scored another. Bob Waters played well for a brace and Mike Davis scored another. Bob and Mike then combined for a rare doubles win. The Pessimists pair of Barry Morgan and Tim Chancellor each scored a maximum and combined to win the doubles as they beat the visiting Woodchester C 7-3. Ken Bridle, Colin Bruton and Roger Davies, won a set apiece for the visitors. Two player Randwick A shared the points with the visiting Thornbury B at five all thanks to a max for Pavel Sharma and a brace for Ray Bassett. Gavin Rogers “scored” a point for Thornbury and combined with Simon Lewis to win the doubles in four to secure the draw. Thornbury C kept their survival hopes alive when they won three points at home against the league winners, Frampton A. Olly Philp and Rob Munson each hit a maximum for the visitors and Dave Pearce’s single win completed their scoring. Graham Eden and Viv Wilkie won a set apiece, then Graham teamed up with Tracy Dibble to win the doubles in five and claim rare praise from the usually harsh home scribe!

 

Week 27: All three Forest Green B players, John Pobjoy, John Crowther and Jimmy Haycraft returned maximums when they entertained Nailsworth A. Wayne Hopkins and Alan Wheeler combined to win the doubles in three to avoid the whitewash but it was a 9-1 win for the home team. Thornbury B secured second place with a comfortable 8-2 win against a below strength Phoenix C. Gavin Rogers and Mark Attwood each scored a max and Simon Lewis bagged a brace. Mike Davis scored a consolation for Phoenix then combined with Andy Hammond to win a thrilling doubles in five.
