Week 1: A very junior Phoenix H side succumbed 0-10 to Randwick D for whom Marcus and Mary Holba and Martin McKay won all the points. All the matches were hard fought and entertaining but experience won the day on this occasion. Not to be out done by their clubmates, Phoenix I suffered a similar fate, also losing 0-10 at home to Cam & Dursley C. The visiting team of Bev Browning, Tony Powell and Ellie Prescott all going unbeaten but not untroubled by another enthusiastic bunch of juniors. Another 10-0 result in the division gave Forest Green D a comfortable win over Randwick E. Richard Wright, Neville Nelder and Joe Spence all going unbeaten. Frampton D had a much closer match, but could not prevent the visiting Randwick C going home with six points as Ralph Perry, George Morris and Chris James each scored two wins. Glan Watkins bagged a brace for the home side and Dave Hayward another before Glan combined with Chris Philp to win the doubles. Only Mike May showed any real resistance with two singles wins as Nailsworth B were beaten at home by local rivals Phoenix G. A brace apiece for Chris Clifton-Sprigg and Meg Willsher was eclipsed by a maximum for Maz Willsher on her Phoenix Debut. Chris and Maz won the doubles in three to seal the win 2-8.

 

Week 2: Another Phoenix team in good form, this time it was the G team who beat Frampton D 9-1, with Chris Clifton-Sprigg and Meg Willsher unbeaten in singles and doubles and Louise Rees bagging a brace. Pete Seville scored a consolation for the visitors. Randwick C’s team of Ralph Perry, George Morris and Chris James each won two singles against their opponents from Forest Green D but none could beat Richard Wright on the night. Ralph and Chris won the doubles to seal a 7-3 win. Club mates Randwick E were not so fortunate as Rob Dolton secured their only point against visiting Phoenix I. Rob Arthur and Chris Hampton both scored a max for the visitors and Fadi Dahdouh bagged a brace before joining Chris to win the doubles. Cam C were too strong for visiting Phoenix H, Bev Browning was unbeaten on the night for the home side and was assisted by Tony Powell and Ellie Prescott with two wins each. Andy Donald and Matt Hawkins each recorded a win for the visitors before Bev and Ellie won the doubles in five to secure an 8-2 match win. Martin McKay was unbeaten for Randwick D as they beat visiting Nailsworth B 7-3. Mike May scored one and Dave Watson the other two for Nailsworth. The home sides scoring was completed by Dave Perry (2) and Rob Dolton (1) before Dave and Martin won the doubles.

 

Week 3: Phoenix H juniors only lost one game all night as they convincingly beat the visiting Randwick E 10-0. Ethan Byrne led the way with a maximum and was followed by Charlie Cole on his league debut with a maximum and Sam McIvor also with a maximum. Ethan and Charlie wrapped up the whitewash winning the doubles in three. Phoenix I juniors were not so fortunate as they lost by the same score to the more experienced Randwick C 0-10. Ralph Perry, George Morris and Chris James didn’t lose a game all night with Ralph and Chris winning the doubles in three also. Richard Wright was again on good form for Forest Green D when they entertained local rivals Phoenix G. Richards maximum plus a doubles win with Neville Nelder gave the home team 4 points. But a good team performance from Meg Willsher, Chris Clifton-Sprigg and Louise Rees all winning two gave them the match win 4-6. Randwick D entertained Cam C and young Marcus Holba won all three for the home side. Mary Holba won another and David Perry scored two more before teaming up with Marcus to win a hard fought doubles in five. All the visitors got on the score sheet as Nigel Meredith, Bev Browning and Tony Powell won a set apiece. Final score Randwick 7 Cam 3.

 

Week 4: Randwick C travelled to Frampton D with only two players but still came away with a 6-4 win thanks to David Perry winning three and Martin McKay winning two. Glan Watkins scored the single reply for the home side. David and Martin won the doubles to seal the win. Another in house derby saw Phoenix G beat Phoenix I 6-4. The home sides points came from Chris Clifton-Sprigg and Louise Rees with two apiece and one from Meg Willsher. Chris Hampton was unbeaten for the visitors and Rob Arthur scored another before Chris and Meg won the doubles. There were some close sets but Randwick C beat visiting Phoenix H 10-0 with Ralph Perry, Martin McKay and George Morris all unbeaten on the night. Forest Green D travelled the short distance up the hill to play local rivals Nailsworth B and came away with a 7-3 victory. Nailsworth’s points came from Mike May with a double and another from Dave Watson. Richard Wright was again on good form for the visitors with a maximum and was assisted by Neville Nelder with two and Joe Spence with one. Richard and Joe won a comfortable doubles in three.

 

Week 5: Matt Hawkins was on good form for Phoenix H when they entertained club mates Phoenix G, winning all three of his sets. Meg Willsher, Louise Rees and Chris Clifton-Sprigg all won two for the “visitors” but lost the doubles for a final score of 4-6. The young Phoenix I team earned a creditable 5-5 draw against their more senior opponents Nailsworth B. Billy Arthur and Alex Horseman each won two and Jon Ramsbotham won another for the Phoenix team. Mike May and Phil Sims each won two for the visitors and sealed the draw by winning the doubles. Forest Green D played host to Frampton D and in a close match all the players got a result on the score card. The home side of Neville Nelder, Joe Spence and Julien Crowther each won one set. Pete Seville was best on the night for Frampton with a max and was supported by Chris Philp with two and one from Laurie Hobbs. Joe and Julien fought out a close doubles to leave the final score 4-6. Randwick C travelled to Cam C with only two players but came away with 5 points as Ralf Perry and Chris James each scored a brace and won the doubles for the visitors. Stephen Heaven was on good form for Cam winning both his sets to leave the match score at 5-5. Randwick D showed no mercy on their club mates Randwick E who were handicapped with only having two players. Marcus Holba, David Perry and Martin McKay were all unbeaten but the doubles was closely fought and won in four.

 

Week 6: Randwick D secured their position at the top of the division when they won 9-1 at Forest Green D. Marcus and Mary Holba and Martin McKay all scored maximums for the visitors, but Forest Green’s blushes were spared when Neville Nelder and Joe Spence combined to win the doubles. Randwick C kept the pressure on their D team club mates winning 10-0 against their E team club mates with Ralph Perry, George Morris and Chris James all unbeaten. The rest of the division four results ended in draws. Frampton D had Glan Watkins to thank for a max as his side entertained Phoenix I. Rob Arthur (2), Fadi Dahdouh (1) and Chris Hampton (2), scored for the visitors. Dave Hayward scored another point for the home side and combined with Glan to win the doubles and seal the draw. Phoenix H came away from Nailsworth B with a share of the spoils thanks to a brace from Matt Hawkins and Ethan Byrne and a first win for Ian Ashton. Nailsworth’s points were scored by Mike May with a max and another for Phil Sims before the same two combined to win the doubles and seal the draw. Phoenix G completed a hat trick of draws for the Phoenix club in the division with a long drawn out match against the visiting Cam C. Nigel Meredith was on good form for Cam with a max and was backed up by Bev Browning and Ellie Prescott with a point each. Louise Rees scored a brace and there was a point apiece for Meg Willsher and Les Hanley, whose team fought back from 0-4 down. Meg and Louise won the doubles and secured the draw in a match which had seven sets go to five keeping most up beyond their bedtimes!

 

Week 7: Experience triumphed over youth when Frampton D travelled to and beat Phoenix H 8-2. Harry Cowley scored a win and joined with Sam McIvor to win the doubles for the home side. But Glanville Watkins and Pete Seville were both unbeaten for the visitors and Dave Hayward scored a brace. Phoenix I suffered an 8-2 defeat the same as their club mates when they entertained Forest Green D. Jon Ramsbotham and Billy Arthur each won a singles for the home side. Richard Wright was unbeaten for the visitors and there were two wins each for Nevile Nelder and Julien Crowther. Richard and Nevile completed the scoring, winning a competitive doubles. Cam C and Nailsworth B fought out a 5-5 draw. Lin Callard scored two for the home side Cam and there was one win each for Marcia Heaven and Tony Powell. Dave Watson was the best on the night, scoring a maximum for the visitors and Mike May scored a brace. Lin and Marcia sealed the draw winning the doubles in five. Randwick D were too strong for their C team club mates beating them 8-2 at “home”. Marcus Holba maintained his 100% record and there was also a max for Dave Perry and a brace for Martin Mckay. George Morris won a singles for the C team then Chris James and Brandon Keveren won the doubles in five.

 

Week 8: Randwick D maintained their position at the top of the division with a comfortable 10-0 victory at Phoenix I. Marcus and Mary Holba, and Martin McKay all going unbeaten. Phoenix H travelled the short distance up the hill and came down merry men as they beat Forest Green D 6-4. Andy Donald and Matt Hawkins each won two and there was a singles win for Fred Donald. Rich Wright was unbeaten for the hosts and there was a point for Rik Cross before Andy and Fred sealed victory in the doubles. A brace for Pete Seville was the total of the scoring for Fampton D as they lost 2-8 to the visiting Cam C. Steve Heaven scored a max and there was two wins apiece for Marcia Heaven and Tony Powell before Steve and Marcia won the doubles in three. Nailsworth B made light work of Randwick E beating their opponents 10-0 at home. Dave Watson, Phil Sims and Mike May were all unbeaten. Phoenix G recorded a 7-3 home win against Randwick C. Maz Willsher scored a max, Chris Clifton-Sprigg two and another point for Louise Rees for the home side. B Kieverizn, Chris James and Ralph Perry each scored a point for Randwick before Maz and Chris completed the scoring for the home side with a doubles win.

 

Week 9: It was all square at five all when the visiting Nailsworth B left Randwick C. Top player on the night was Ralph Perry for Randwick with a maximum and their scoring was completed by George and Keith Morris who won a point each. Dave Watson and Mike May scored a brace apiece for the visitors then combined to win the doubles and secure the draw. Cam C proved too strong for the visiting Forest Green D finishing 8-2 victors. Lin Callard was unbeaten in singles for Cam and Bev Browning and Ellie Prescott won two games each plus the doubles. Rich Wright scored both the points for Forest Green. Randwick D just edged this close encounter at the top of the division against Phoenix G thanks mostly to Dave Perry and Martin McKay who were both unbeaten in singles. Chris Clifton-Sprigg, Louise Rees and Meg Willsher all scored one point. Chris and Meg won the doubles 16-14 in the fifth to keep the score line close. In the first battle between the Phoenix youngsters it was the H team that came out on top beating their I team club mates 7-3. Harry Cowley was the best on the night winning all his three for the “home” side and was well supported by Sam McIvor, winning two five setters and Fred Donald winning another. Alex Horseman scored a brace and there was a win for Billy Arthur for Phoenix I before Fred and Harry won the doubles and completed the victory.

 

Week 10: The points were shared at 5-5 in the local derby between Phoenix G and Nailsworth B. Louise Rees and Les Hanley won a set each for Phoenix and Jim Davis bagged a brace. Mike May scored a max for the visiting Nailsworth and Dave Watson won two sets before Louise and Jim combined to win the doubles and seal the draw. Ralph Perry and George Morris each scored maximums for Randwick C when they entertained Frampton D. Pete Seville, Dave Hayward and Chris Philp won a point each in reply for Frampton before Ralph and Jessica Hurford teamed up to win the doubles. Nigel Meredith scored a maximum for Cam C when they entertained Phoenix I, but that was the total of their scoring as the home side went down 3-7. Fadi Dahdouh, Chris Hampton and Rob Arthur each bagged a brace then Chris and Rob combined to win the doubles. Randwick D proved to be too strong for the visiting Phoenix H with Marcus and Mary Holba and David Perry all scoring maximums. Matt Hawkins and Ethan Byrne combined to win the doubles and scored a deserved point. Result 9-1 to Randwick.

 

Week 11: The girls finished on top when an all female Phoenix G visited and defeated Frampton D. Maz and Meg Willsher each returned a maximum and Louise Rees scored a brace. Glan Watkins scored a consolation point for the home team before Maz and Meg won the doubles in five. Forest Green D and Randwick C shared the points in an honourable draw with all the players getting on the score card. Richard Wright scored two for the home side and was assisted by Rik Cross and Julien Crowther with a point each. Ralph Perry and George Morris won two each for Randwick and Chris James completed their scoring. Richard and Rik sealed the draw by winning the doubles. Mike May and Dave Watson were on good form winning all seven points for Nailsworth B when they beat the visiting Randwick D 7-3. Gill Miles, Greg Holba and Martin McKay each won a set for Randwick. Phoenix H suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the visiting Cam C, Harry Cowley won their only point as they lost 1-9. Stephen Heaven and Nigel Meredith each returned a max and Marcia Heaven a brace before Stephen and Nigel won the doubles. Jasper Dahdouh top scored with two sets for Phoenix I when they beat the visiting Randwick E 8-2. Alex Horseman and Jon Ramsbotham scored a point each before combining to win the doubles. Rob Dolton won two sets for Randwick who could only field two players.

 

Week 12: Nailsworth B played two man Frampton D and ended up winning 7-3 with two wins for Mike May and one for Phil Sims. Pete Seville scored two in reply for Frampton and Dave Hayward completed their scoring with another win. Dave Watson joined Mike to win the doubles in three. Phoenix G had to draft in two players to their team and still overcame the visiting Forest Green D 10-0 as Matt Hawkins, Jim Davis and Louise Rees were all unbeaten on the night. Dave Perry bagged two and then helped his Randwick C team to a doubles win but they still went down 3-7 at home to Phoenix I. Chris Hampton starred for the visitors with a hat trick and there were two wins each for Fadi Dahdouh and Rob Arthur. Cam C ended comfortable winners beating the visiting Randwick D 9-1. Ellie Prescott and Marcia Heaven scored a maximum each and Lin Callard scored a brace. Martin McKay scored a consolation for the visitors before Ellie and Lin won a tight doubles in five.

 

Week 13: Forest Green D could only field two players when they entertained their Nailsworth B neighbours but Rik Cross recorded two wins for the home side, which turned out to be their total. Phil Sims top scored for the visitors with a brace and Mike May and Dave Watson won one each. Mike and Phil won the doubles and an early night ensued. Table topping Randwick D were made to struggle and had to settle for a draw when Frampton B visited. David Perry scored a maximum for the home team and there was a win each for Mary Holba and Martin McKay. Glan Watkins recorded two wins for the visitors and Dave Hayward and Peter Seville won one each before Glan and Peter combined to ensure the points were shared by winning the doubles in five. The G team beat the I team in the latest Phoenix derby. Chris Clifton-Sprigg and Louise Rees scored a max each and Meg Willsher won two. Rob Arthur recorded a singles win for the “home” side before the youth of Jon Ramsbotham and Alex Horseman combined to beat their more experienced opponents in a five game doubles. Phoenix H entertained Randwick C and lost out 4-6 in an entertaining match. George Morris was unbeaten for the visitors and Ralph Perry scored two further wins. The home points came from Harry Cowley and Andy Donald with a win apiece and there was two fine wins for Fred Donald before George teamed up with his father Keith to win the doubles and the match for Randwick C. The Cam C team of Nigel Meredith, Tony Powell and Joe Ormston proved to be too strong for the visiting Randwick E inflicting a white wash on the team struggling at the foot of the division.

 

Week 14: Phoenix G keep up the pressure at the top of the division after beating their I team club mates 9-1. Louise Rees and Chris Clifton-Sprigg won three sets each and Meg Willsher won Two. Matt Hawkins won a consolation point for the I team before Chris and Meg won the doubles. It was a close match between Nailsworth B and Phoenix H, but the visitors came away 6-4 victors. Dave Watson scored two for the home side and one each for Phil Sims and Mike May completed their scoring. Rob Arthur recorded a fine hat trick for the visitors and there was one win each for Fadi Dahdouh and Billy Arthur. Billy and dad Rob sealed the win in a four game doubles. Frampton D were too strong for the visiting Forest Green D, Peter Seville led the way for the home side with three and there were two wins for Dave Hayward and one for Glan Watkins. The visitor’s points came from Richard Wright with two and one for Rik Cross. Peter and Dave won the doubles to give the home side a 7-3 win on the night. Cam C edged a close match when they visited Randwick C. Ralph Perry and Martin McKay won two sets each for the home side. The visitor’s points came from Lin Callard and Nigel Meredith with two wins each and there was another from Tony Powell. Lin and Nigel sealed a 6-4 win with a doubles victory.

 

Week 15: Bev Browning and Ellie Prescott scored a point each as their Cam C side went down 2-8 at home to Phoenix G. Maz Willsher scored a max and Meg Willsher and Chris Clifton-Sprigg bagged a brace each. Louise Rees joined forces with Chris to win the doubles and secure a fine win. Randwick D and Forest Green D fought out an enjoyable draw with several very close games. Marcus Holba bagged two wins but lost his 100% record, there was also a pair of wins for Martin McKay, and a singles win from Mary Holba to complete the home sides scoring. Richard Wright was on good form for the visitors winning all his three and Neville Nelder scored another. Richard then combined with Rik Cross to win an exciting doubles and ensure the points were shared. The honours were shared when youth played experience in the match between Phoenix I youngsters and the Frampton D ex youngsters. Jon Ramsbotham and Alex Horseman each bagged a brace, and Jasper Dahdouh scored another to complete the scoring for the juniors. Pete Seville remained largely untroubled going unbeaten for Frampton and Dave Hayward won another. The Frampton pair combined to win a comfortable doubles and seal the draw.

 

Week 16: The Phoenix G trio of Meg Willsher, Jim Davis and Louise Rees eased to a comfortable 10-0 victory against the visiting Randwick E, going unbeaten in singles and doubles. A determined Cam C team visited Nailsworth B and came away with a 7-3 win, thanks to Nigel Meredith with a max, two for Marcia Heaven and a singles win for Ellie Prescott. Phil Sims with one and a brace for Dave Watson replied for Nailsworth before Marcia and Nigel won the doubles in five. Forest Green D entertained local rivals Phoenix I and it was the visitors who edged the result 6-4. Chris Hampton won his three and there were two wins for Rob Arthur and one for Fadi Dahdouh for the Phoenix club. Richard Wright won two for the Green and Neville Nelder another before the same two combined to win the doubles in three. Randwick C were beaten by their D team club mates 3-7. George Morris bagged a couple for the home team and Ralph Perry completed their scoring. Marcus Holba led the way for the “visitors” with a hat trick and there was a brace for Martin McKay and a singles victory for Mary Holba. Mary and Martin combined to win the doubles in three. Frampton D could only field two players when they entertained Phoenix H, and Dave Hayward picked up their solitary point as they lost the match 1-9. Matt Hawkins and Andy Donald won two each for the visitors and Ian Ashton another before Matt and Ian won the doubles in four and earned an early night.

 

Week 17: A single point from Ralph Perry was all Randwick C could collect when they played table topping Phoenix G. The visitor’s points came from Chris Clifton-Sprigg and Maz Willsher with maximums and a Meg Willsher brace. Phoenix won the doubles in four. Randwick E could only manage one game win as they lost 0-10 at home to Nailsworth B. Phil Sims, Mike May and Dave Watson were the winning trio. Randwick D edged out the visiting Phoenix I 6-4. David Perry scored a max for the home side and Marcus Holba won a brace. The visitor’s points came from a Billy Arthur brace and singles wins for Fadi Dahdouh and Rob Arthur. Marcus and David combined to win the doubles in five. Matt Hawkins bagged a brace and there was a win apiece for Charlie Cole and Andy Donald, but it was not enough as Phoenix H went down 4-6 at home to Forest Green D. Ciaron Brydon scored a win on his debut and there were two wins apiece for Rich Wright and Neville Nelder. Rich and Ciaron combined to win a hard fought doubles in five to seal the match win.

 

Week 18: Nailsworth B entertained Randwick C, who unfortunately could only field two players. Ralph Perry did his best for Randwick winning all his three, but his side were still beaten 7-3. Dave Watson, Mike May and Phil Sims “won” a set each and Dave and Mike won the doubles. Phoenix I came out on top of the in house derby beating their H team club mates 7-3. Rob and Billy Arthur each returned a maximum for the I team while there was a point each for the “visiting” trio of Andy Donald, Fred Donald and Sam McIvor. Billy was joined by Jasper Dahdouh to win a thrilling doubles in five. Forest Green D scored one point thanks to Julien Crowther when they lost 1-9 to the visiting Cam C. Lin Callard and Bev Browning scored a max each and Marcia Heaven bagged a brace. Lin and Bev won a comfortable doubles in three. Frampton D beat the visiting Randwick E 7-3 thanks to Dave Hayward and Chris Philp going unbeaten and a singles win for Laurie Hobbs. The visitor’s points came from singles wins for Gill Miles and Rob Doulton, Randwick also won the doubles in four.

 

Week 19: Phoenix G remain at the top of the division after winning a hard fought match at Nailsworth B. Meg Willsher and Louise Rees bagged a brace apiece and Chris Clifton-Sprigg won another for the Phoenix club while Dave Watson and Mike May each won two for Nailsworth. Chris and Meg won the doubles to give the visitors a 6-4 victory. Rob Dolton grabbed two points for Randwick E but they left Forest Green D losing 8-2 overall. Neville Nelder was unbeaten for the Green and Ciaran Brydon and Julien Crowther won a brace each. Neville and Julien won the doubles in three to complete the scoring. Frampton D and Randwick C fought out a close match with the visitors just clinching victory in the doubles. Glan Watkins scored a brace for the home side and Dave Hayward and Pete Seville scored one each. Ralph Perry was unbeaten for Randwick and George Morris won two before the same two combined to win the doubles for a 6-4 win. Harry Cowley scored the only point for Phoenix H in a keenly contested match against the visiting Randwick D. Marcus and Mary Holba both returned maximums and David Perry won two before Marcus and David won the doubles in five, coming from two down to seal the result at 1-9. Phoenix I were well beaten by the more experienced visiting Cam C, with Lin Callard, Joe Ormston and Bev Browning all unbeaten to record a 10-0 victory.

 

Week 20: With only two matches being played in the division this week, table topping Phoenix G took  advantage increasing their lead atop the table beating the visiting Frampton D 10-0. Maz Willsher, Meg Willsher and Louise Rees all unbeaten and Maz and Meg winning the doubles. Phoenix H were inspired by stand in captain, Matt Hawkins to a 6-4 victory when they visited Cam C. Lin Callard won two for the home team and Ellie Prescott and Marcia Heaven won one each. Matt Hawkins scored a maximum and Fred Donald bagged a brace for the visitors then combined to win an exciting doubles in five to secure the win.

 

Week 21: Glan Watkins was man of the match for Frampton D but couldn’t prevent his team losing 4-6 at home to Nailsworth B. Mike May and Phil Sims won two each for Nailsworth and Dave Watson won another, while Dave Hayward completed Frampton’s scoring. Dave and Mike combined to win the doubles in five and secure the win. Phoenix I recorded a 7-3 victory against the visiting Randwick C, who could only field two players. Rob Arthur, Jon Ramsbotham and Alex Horseman “scored” one win each for the home side, while Ralph Perry won two and George Morris another for the visitors. Jon and Alex combined to win the doubles in four for a well earned match win. Randwick D and Cam C shared the points at five each when the two met at Randwick. Nigel Meredith scored a max for the visitors and there was also one win each for Lin Callard and Ellie Prescott. Marcus Holba and David Perry won two each and then combined to win the doubles to secure a home draw. The Phoenix H youngsters recorded a comfortable 9-1 victory against the visitors from Randwick E. Fred Donald’s brace of wins was only bettered by Ethan Byrne and Matt Hawkins who both scored maximums. Rob Dolton scored a consolation for Randwick then Ethan and Fred won a close doubles in five.

 

Week 22: Phoenix G kept the pressure on at the top of the division, this time at the expense of their “I” team club mates, winning 9-1. Chris Clifton- Sprigg and Louise Rees each scored a maximum and Meg Willsher bagged a brace. Chris Hampton scored a consolation for Phoenix I then Chris and Meg won an exciting doubles in five. Randwick C whitewashed the visiting Phoenix H 10-0 with Ralph Perry, Keith Morris and George Morris all going unbeaten. A maximum from Richard Wright was the difference that gave Forest Green D a 6-4 victory when they visited Nailsworth B. Team mates Ciaran Brydon and Neville Nelder won a set apiece and Rich and Neville won the doubles to complete the visitors score. Mike May and Dave Watson bagged a brace each for the home side. Dave Perry was man of the match for Randwick D, helping his side to a 6-4 victory at Frampton D. Martin McKay won a brace and combined with Dave to win the doubles. Pete Seville was the pick of the Frampton side winning two while Dave Hayward and Chris Philp won one each.

 

Week 23: Randwick D inflicted a whitewash over their “E” team club mates with Marcus Holba, Greg Holba and Martin McKay all going unbeaten. Forest Green D and Frampton D shared the points at five all, man of the match was Glan Watkins for the visitors winning all his sets, Chris Philp won another and Frampton won the doubles in five. Richard Wright and Neville Nelder won two apiece for the Green with Julien Crowther completing their scoring. Harry Cowley was the one who showed any real resistance as his Phoenix H team were brushed aside by their “G” team club mates 1-9 winning one set. Les Hanley and Louise Rees both returned maximums and Chris Clifton-Sprigg bagged a brace, Chris and Louise won the doubles in four to complete the win. Nailsworth B could only field two players when they visited Phoenix I, but Mike May was able to score a maximum and together with Phil Sims, won the doubles in five to keep the score respectable at 6-4. Rob Arthur, Billy Arthur and Jasper Dahdouh “won” a set each for the hosts.

 

Week 24: The points were shared between two of the sides at the top of the division when Phoenix G entertained Cam C. Stephen Heaven was man of the match scoring a max for the visitors and young Ellie Prescott won another set. The points for the home side were shared between Chris Clifton-Sprigg and Louise Rees, who scored two apiece, and Meg Willsher who won another set. Stephen and Ellie combined to win the doubles and claim a share of the points. Randwick C overpowered their E team club mates 9-1. Ralph Perry and George Morris both went unbeaten and Keith Morris scored two more. Olly Burt scored the consolation for the E team before Keith and Ralph won the doubles in three straight. Nailsworth B played Phoenix H for the second time in three days, with the same outcome, a 7-3 win for the home side Nailsworth. Mike May, Dave Watson and Phil Sims each won two sets for the hosts but were made to work for them as Ethan Byrne scored two and Fred Donald won another. Mike and Dave won the doubles in four. Frampton D entertained Phoenix I, with the visitors winning by 7-3 thanks to a Rob Arthur hat trick, a Chris Hampton brace and a single set for Billy Arthur. Glan Watkins scored a brace for the home side and Pete Seville completed their scoring. Chris and Rob won the doubles in four.

 

Week 25: Cam C’s push for promotion continues, this time at the expense of the visiting Nailsworth B. Steve Heaven and Bev Browning scored a maximum each and Marcia Heaven won another singles set. Dave Watson and Mike May scored a point apiece for the visitors before Steve and Bev won the doubles in five for an 8-2 win. Randwick D just edged a tight match against Randwick C. George Morris won a fine maximum for the “visiting” Randwick C and Ralph Perry beat son David 13-11 in the fifth to give their team four points. Marcus Holba and Martin McKay each bagged a brace and David Perry won another, then Marcus and David won a comfortable doubles in three to seal the victory at 6-4. The Phoenix H youngsters got the better of the Frampton D old guard, recording a 7-3 home win. Charlie Cole won three, Harry Cowley won two and Sam McIvor won another. Pete Seville top scored for Frampton with a brace and Chris Philp won another. Charlie and Harry combined to win the doubles in three. Phoenix I were beaten 3-7 at home by Forest Green D. Richard Wright scored a hat trick for the visitors, Neville Nelder won two and Julien Crowther won one. Rob Arthur won two for the Phoenix side and Jasper Dahdouh’s single completed their scoring. Richard and Neville won the doubles in four to complete the match.

 

Week 26: Phoenix G hold on to top spot as they beat the visiting Randwick C 6-4. The home trio of Maz and Meg Willsher and Chris Clifton-Sprigg won two sets apiece, while Randwick’s points came from a Ralph Perry brace and a singles set from Martin McKay, the same two winning the doubles for the visitors. Richard Wright was on good form scoring a max as Forest Green D beat local rivals Phoenix H 6-4. There were singles wins also for Neville Nelder and Julien Crowther. Andy Donald led the way for the visitors scoring a pair with young Fred Donald and Matt Hawkins winning a set apiece. Richard and Neville sealed the victory by winning the doubles in four. Nailsworth B proved to be too strong for the visiting Randwick E running out comfortable 9-1 winners. Mike May and Phil Sims each scored maximums and Dave Watson scored a brace. Oly Burt scored a consolation for Randwick before Dave and Mike won the doubles in three. The points were shared between Frampton D and Cam C at five all. Glan Watkins and Peter Seville each scored a brace for Frampton and combined to win the doubles. Steve Heaven was man of the match, scoring a hat trick for Cam while maintaining his 100% record, his score was added to by Lin Callard and Ellie Prescott who won a set each. The young Phoenix I team of Alex Horseman, Jasper Dahdouh and Jon Ramsbotham won a set each when they lost 3-7 at home to promotion hopefuls Randwick D. Marcus Holba scored a max and Greg Holba bagged a brace then combined to win the doubles to add to Martin McKay’s single set win.

 

Week 27: The last match of the season brought the division’s top two sides together, and it was Randwick D who had the edge over champions Phoenix G, winning 6-4 and securing the runners up spot. Dave Perry scored a max for the hosts and was backed up by Marcus Holba with two and Mary Holba with one. Maz Willsher did the best for Phoenix, winning two sets and combining with Meg Willsher (who had earlier won one) to win the doubles in four. Cam C fought hard but could not quite get the extra point which would have given them second place when they beat the visiting Forest Green D 8-2. Steve Heaven was unbeaten and there were two wins each for Lin Callard and Bev Browning for Cam. Ciaran Dryden played well for the visitors winning two before Lin and Bev won the doubles in three. Randwick C beat the visiting Nailsworth B 8-2 thanks to maximums from Ralph and Dave Perry and a single set from George Morris. Dave Watson and Mike May won a set each for the visitors before Ralph and Dave won the doubles in five. The Frampton D team of Glan Watkins, Pete Seville and Dave Hayward all went unbeaten when they visited Randwick E, winning 10-0. The Phoenix youngsters completed their season with an in house derby, with the I team coming out on top, beating the H team 8-2. Billy Arthur was man of the match scoring a maximum and was well backed up by Alex Horseman and Jasper Dahdouh scoring a brace apiece. Sam McIvor and Charlie Cole fought hard and won a set each for the home side before Alex and Jasper won an exciting doubles in five, which led to wild celebrations upstairs after the match!
